Life in the Hines House

Week 14. It's a pretty good week. My first FULL week in the second trimester. How exciting is that? I have 12 days left until we find out if the baby is a boy or a girl. I put a poll up on the side so you all can guess if it's a boy or a girl! I was looking at pictures of 3-d ultrasounds this last week, and 14 week fetuses seriously look like martians. They have the large, round heads with pointed chins, and their heads are too big for their bodies. But I'm sure my little martian is completely adorable, anyways. I can't wait for the ultrasound. I hope the baby is active and not asleep. I want to see him or her moving around. Our last ultrasound was at 8 weeks, and the only part moving was the heart. So I'm excited to SEE the movement. I hear movement whenever I listen to the baby's heartbeat on our doppler. And I can FEEL the little pop rocks in my belly that tell me the baby is moving. But it's different to actually be able to see it, I'm sure.

My friend April bought me some ADORABLE little onesies last night while we were out shopping. They are so cute.

And here are my week 14 belly pictures!

Let me see...OH! I have found that if I drink concentrated caffeine shots, (i.e. 3-4 quick gulps of coke or some other caffinated beverage) and I am in the right position, I can feel the baby move around 10-15 minutes later. I know, I'm probably a bad mom for doing it. But the pop rocks/bubble popping feeling is seriously the coolest feeling ever. And I honestly don't think I could ever confuse it with gas because (in my body at least) I feel gas more towards my back and it's really uncomfortable - sometimes downright painful. This is at the very front, and just feels like pop rocks. I also occasionally feel a tugging sensation in about the same spot, but I am skeptical that that is the baby. I'm not sure what it is, but it doesn't feel like pop rocks.

Um...let's see....oh round ligament pain. It's really not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Most of the time when I have it, it just feels like a sore muscle. If I stand up or twist too fast, though, it feels like I pulled a muscle. That goes away after a minute or so, though, so I really just don't think it's that bad. Part of it could be that I stretch all my muscles every day, too though. I'm sure it's worse for women who are less active, or who don't have any muscle flexibility, or who don't stretch ever. But I'm not really willing to test that theory on myself.

I'm not really excited for Thanksgiving this year. It's actually more of a stressful situation than anything. We are driving to Vegas on Wednesday, getting up early on Thursday to go over to my cousins' house to help her cook Thanksgiving dinner, seeing a matinee with my dad on Friday, and then leaving after the movie because Tyler has to work the BYU/Utah game on Saturday. And to top it all off, I still really don't have an appetite. I can only eat things in tiny little portions. So the thought of Thanksgiving is kind of depressing. On the happier note, 5 days later is the ultrasound!

I AM really excited for December. We have our gender ultrasound on the 1st, my cousin's baby is due on the 15th so could be here any day in December, we are leaving for Gardnerville on the 18th - and we get to spend the whole break there - and then Christmas and New Years! I am getting really really excited for all of that. Life has been really good, and I am excited for all the changes that are coming in 2010!!

aren't you supposed to wait and allow other people to buy you baby clothes at your shower? lol
