Operation Buckle Down

The Hines Household is becoming frugal March 1st. Today we officially paid off $2200 in medical bills. (Over $1000 we are still fighting on due to the fact that the patient wasn't me, but that's a whole different story that comes with a whole lot of frustration. And I wanted it off my credit. We've been advised that they would have to reimburse us once we are able to prove it, and if not we have grounds to sue.) We have our rent paid until May. My car payment is paid until April. All of that money that we WOULD be spending on those bills is going into savings on the first of every month, and now we have an extra $200 per month that we don't have to pay!
I'm setting a budget of $150 for food. Including eating out. We'll be implementing meal planning. And any leftovers we have will be frozen in individual portions so those nights I don't feel like cooking, we can just thaw out a meal! (My new apron Tyler got me for Valentine's day will be seeing a lot of the kitchen!) I'm a little excited to get this going. (And wishing we had a larger freezer.) One more checklist on my goal of becoming supermom! Wish me luck!

The apron itself. Cute, right? Tyler picked it all on his own!

You look so cute, Tristan. We're actually planning to use our entire refund to go to med debt. Oh joy! But it's nice to know you're no longer in debt. :)

way to knuckle down...we are working on that and need to be much better about sticking to our budget. I want to get better at using coupons but I am not sure I have the patience for it. Your apron is darling! I love the new flirty aprons =]

good luck. i cut my food down to $50 or less a month for one person. But baby food is expensive, and I was sticking to certain foods that come in bulk and cheap that most people would get bored of. let me know how you figure that one out
